August 12, 2006 Groundbreaking Date Announced for Red Bull ParkCan you believe it? The official groundbreaking ceremony for Red Bull Park, a 25,000-seat soccer stadium to be built in Harrison NJ, will take place at 11.30am on Tuesday September 19. Nick Sakiewicz, President of AEG New York, developers and managing partners of the outdoor venue made the announcement yesterday. Completion is expected by the summer of 2008. August 11, 2006 Red Bulls Take On BarcelonaAfter a miserable start to the season, including a change of ownership and a general manager and coach change, as well as having their best forward sold, the Red Bulls appear to be on a swing in the right direction. June 18, 2006 10 Days and Interest is Picking UpThat wonderful draw (although the soccer was somewhat ugly) the US obtained with Italy yesterday ensures that World Cup interest will pick up considerably as the week progresses. And whatever happens, the US can be assured that its World Cup campaign will be considered successful, even after that sleepwalk against the Czechs. Great to see a New Jerseyite sitting right next to Bruce Arena during the US games – of course it was assistant coach Glen Myernick. I forgot him when listing all the New Jersey people involved in the World Cup – sorry Glen and great job against Italy! June 13, 2006 Correction - Star Ledger IS In GermanyA major correction to my last story needs to be made. The Star Ledger, in the guise of Frank Giase, is offically in Germany following the World Cup. Frank is even writing a blog to keep you all updated www.nj.com/worldcup. |
